    Windows 7 Professional includes all the Home Premium features you love and the business features your work demands. Connect to company networks and share files across the various PCs in your home. In addition, you can run many Windows XP productivity programs in Windows XP Mode and recover your data easily with automated back-ups to your home or business network.

    This product includes both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

  • Before you buy

    Running Windows Vista?
    If you have certain versions of Windows Vista, you can purchase Windows 7 Upgrade versions. You can do a clean install (back up your files, clean install, and reinstall your applications) or an in-place upgrade (Windows 7 installs over Windows Vista).

    Running earlier versions?
    If you have Windows XP, you can purchase Windows 7 Upgrade versions. But you must back up your files, clean install, and reinstall your applications.
    If you’re running Windows 2000, a different operating system or have a computer that currently has no operating system, you’ll need to purchase the full product and do a clean install.

    • Use XP Mode: Run many existing productivity and business programs designed for Windows XP— if not pre-installed, it can be downloaded free from Microsoft.
    • Automated back up your files: Protect your data from user error, hardware failure, and other problems. You can back up your files to an external hard drive, secondary hard drive, writable CD or DVD, or to a network location.
    • Save time resolving IT issues: Take advantage of the powerful diagnostics and troubleshooters built into Action Center to resolve many computer problems on your own.
    • Share files across the various PCs in your home: Use HomeGroup to connect your PCs running Windows 7 to a single printer. Specify exactly what you want to share from each PC with all the PCs in the HomeGroup.
    • Interact with compatible devices connected to your computer: See device pictures and status and run common tasks from a single window.
    • Find virtually anything on your PC – from documents to photos to e-mail: Just click on the Start button, and enter a word or few letters in the name or file you want into the search box, and you’ll get an organised list of results.
    • Connect multiple PCs, with or without a server: Use Domain Join to connect PCs quickly and more securely to your wired or wireless domain network.
    • Find the right printer: Use Location Aware Printing to identify your printer when moving between the office and home.

    Other Windows® XP Mode requires at least 2 GB of RAM (32-bit) / 3GB RAM (64-bit) and 15 GB of available disk space, and a processor capable of hardware virtualisation, with Intel-VT or AMD-V turned on.

    For some Windows Media Center functionality, a TV tuner and additional hardware may be required.
    HomeGroup requires a network and PCs with Windows 7.
    DVD/CD authoring requires a compatible optical drive.
    Depending on resolution, video playback may require additional memory and advanced graphics hardware.
    Windows Touch and Windows Tablet require specific hardware.

    Product functionality and graphics may vary based on your system configuration. Some features may require advanced or additional hardware.

    Music and sound require audio output.
